MADS began playing guitar when he was given his first at age 14, but it was not until a few years later that his interest in music became the driving force behind Soundfreek. Inspired by punk and grunge bands of the early '90s, he began to write and record songs that would eventually become the basis of Soundfreek's sound. His style gradually matured from his punk roots to the sound of later, more complex compositions, inspired by bands such as Soundgarden and Tool.
